Leon Church
Leon Church is a third-generation trapper from the Porcupine Mountains of Manitoba, where he runs Church Kennels. With a deep family tradition of trapping and working with dogs, Leon started running his team in harness in 2019. His kennel includes a unique mix of Siberian Husky X Golden Lab/Chesapeake, Husky X Shepherd, and purebred Siberian Huskies, as well as some recent additions of Alaskan Husky bloodlines. Leon’s dogs are all born on his acreage or rescued from various situations, and many still compete for spots on his top team.
This year, Leon and his team are gearing up for a new challenge—exploring 300 miles of Montana in the upcoming race. While he embraces the learning curve of distance racing, he’s excited to see what his dogs can do and is ready to take on this new challenge.
