350 mile – Gary

Rawson, Gary is a 52 year old manufacturer’s representative for
semiconductor and scientific markets from Portland, Oregon. His kennel
name is Red Oak Kennel and he has been mushing for two years. He got
started visiting Kennels in Alaska, handling at the Iditarod, and then
handling for several races in the lower 48. He has raced the Cascade
Quest and will be running Alaskan huskies. In the lead will be Cloud,
Oak, Popeye, and Soda. His personal sponsors include: Bob Sullivan,

Clarke

Lachlan is a 53 year old horse trainer and horse herd manager from Buena Vista, Colorado. He and wife, Linda, operate Collegiate Peaks Kennel. He has been mushing for 9 years and has finished Race to the Sky several times. In the lead will be Thelma, Louise, Johnny, Ollie, Ellie, Shell, Lefty, Screamer, Anvik, and Walker. The background of is dogs varies from Saunderson, Burmeister, Erhardt, Barron, and Redington. He is sponsored by Activion Cleaning Solutions and Ad.

350 mile – Cindy Gallea
Cindy is a 58 year old nurse practitioner from Seeley Lake, Montana. She operates Snowcrest Kennel and has been mushing for 22 years. Her leaders are Spruce, Hammer, Sprite, and Orchid and she races Alaskan huskies. She got started by helping friends with their dogs. She has run Race to the Sky six other times and has finished second twice (1995 and 1997). In her spare time she enjoys all outdoor activities. This is her seventh Race to the Sky. Adkins

Chris is a 41 year old lumber yard worker from Sand Coulee, Montana. He has been mushing since he was about four years old, getting his start from musher dad, Terry Adkins. Adkins Alaskan Huskies is where the dogs call home and they are Alaskan huskies. He ran Race to the Sky for the first time in 1990 and this will be his eleventh race. He won the Sportsmanship Award for Race to the Sky in 1995 and 1996 and finished second in the Race to the Sky 350 last year. He is sponsored by Adkins Alaskan Huskies.

350 mile – Megan

Routley

Megan is a 49 year old tour company operator from Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. She has been mushing for 16 years and has run the Wyoming Staged Stop and the Caledonia Classic. She will be racing Alaskan huskies. In the lead will be Pokey, Upward, Trigger, Dansel, Linus, Eore, Jazz, and Lucky. In her spare time, she likes to read, cook, and garden. This is her first Race to the Sky.

350 mile – Rick Larson

Rick is a 43 year old equipment operator from Sand Coulee, Montana. He and wife, Sandy, operate Rick’s Racing Rovers. Rick has been mushing Alaskan Huskies for fifteen years and has raced Iditarod, Seeley Lake 200, Race to the Sky, Cam-Am Crown, UP200 and more. This is his fifth Race to the Sky, finishing the 200 mile Race to the Sky last year in first place. In the lead will be Jollo and Jake this year. Personal sponsors include: Redpaw Dog Food, Northwind Sleds, and Great Falls Vet Clinic.

Daugereau

Laura is a 27 year old construction worker from Port Gamble, Washington. She operates Night Runner Kennel. This is her fourth Race to the Sky. In the lead will be Aspen, Helens, Danali, Petunia. She has run Iditarod, Race to the Sky, the Seeley Lake race, and more.

350 mile – Steve

Madsen

Steve is a 45 year old attorney from Cougar, Washington. He and wife, Janet, operate Sirius Sled Dogs Kennel. Steve has been racing for eighteen years and has raced Iditarod, Eagle Cap Extreme (2nd place and Best Kept Team Award), and Race to the Sky. This is his seventh Race to the Sky, the last time he ran it was the 2008 race. He runs Alaskan huskies (Swingley/Buser lines) and enjoys horses and reading when he isn’t working with the dogs. In the lead will be Crow, Apache, Lakota, and Maker. Personal sponsors include: family and friends and L & J Feed (Woodland, WA).

350 mile – Kim
Darst

Kim is a 40 year old pilot from Blairstown, New Jersey. She has been mushing for 12 years and has recently run the Can-Am 250, Seney 300, Moccasin 200, and the 2009 Iditarod. In the lead will be Cotton and Maple. She will be running Susan Butcher lines and says she got started mushing when her job took her to Alaska “where it seems everyone runs dogs.” This is her first Race to the Sky. She is sponsored by Jean Pollock, Della Darst, Dr. Zacheo, DVM, and Ruth
Kasmazon.

350 mile – James
Bardoner

James is a 61 year old father of nine children from Signal Mountain, Tennessee. He has done expedition mushing in Maine and cart training in Alaska and Tennessee. He has trained for the last two years with Doug Swingley and planned on running the Race to the Sky last year before being injured. He says he has brought his children up to “dare to dream and have the courage to live their dreams” and that’s what he is doing as he trains to run the Iditarod in 2011. This is his first Race to the Sky.

Fink

John is from Gladwin, Michigan. He and his family operate Red Barn Kennel. He and his son, Justin, will be running Race to the Sky this year with John doing the 350 and Justin running the first Junior Race to the Sky. He runs Alaskan huskies. This is his first Race to the Sky.

350 mile – Ryne Olson

Ryne is a 20 year guide from McMillan, Michigan. She has been mushing for one year and works for Nature’s Kennel doing guided sled dog trips. She enjoys backpacking, hiking, and skiing. This is her first Race to the Sky.

Hoffman

Kris is a 33 year old tour guide from Steamboat Springs, Colorado. He has been mushing for ten years. He operates Grizzle-T kennel and recently ran Seeley Lake 200. Kris enjoys fly-fishing in his spare time and will be running Alaskan huskies. This is his first Race to the Sky.

350 mile – Mark Ibsen

Mark is a 54 year old physican from Helena Montana. He has been mushing for 8 years and operates Last Chance Kennels. He will be running Alaskan huskies. 350 mile Jarle Halsnes

Jarle is a 52 year old builder/construction operator from Steamboat Springs, Colorado. He runs Alaskan huskies and his kennel’s name is Red Oak Kennel. He has been racing for seven years and primarily runs stage stop formats. His daughter Krista has also raced. In his spare time he enjoys skijoring. In the lead will be Cloud, Acorn, and Mink. He has raced the IPSSSDR Stage Stop in Wyoming and the Seeley Lake 200. This is his first Race to the Sky.

Doug is a 33 year old dog musher/kennel owner from Chilcoot, California. He operates Husky Mountain Kennel and races Alaskan huskies out of Jonrowe origin. He has been mushing for nine years. Recently he raced the West Yellowstone, Montana race and the Siskiyou Race in California. His sponsor is Alpine Outfitters. This is his first Race to the Sky.

Lacey is a 16 year old student from Livingston, Montana, who enjoys hiking, scuba diving, dog agility, and dog training. Her kennel is Lacey Hart Racing and she has been mushing for eight years. Last year she finished the Junior Iditarod and received the Humanitarian Award. Background for her dogs are Swingley, Gareth Wright, and George Attla. In the lead will be Jac, JoJo and Lizzy. She is planning on running the 2010 Junior Iditarod and the Junior Yukon Quest and has previously run the West Yellowstone Classic and the Green River Classic. Aiyana is a 12 year student from Victor, Montana. She enjoys dogsledding, dog 4-H, drawing, snowboarding and soccer. Her kennel name is Storm Blaze and she has been mushing for four years. In the lead will be Deluxe, Schnitz, and Cozby. She has raced the Flathead Sled Dog Days and the Root Beer Classic last year and will be racing Alaskan huskies. She would like to run Junior Iditarod in the future. Her sponsors include Charlie Counts, Jerry Higgins, Nicki Arndt, Kirk Barnum, and, of course, her mom and dad, Jen & Doug Ferraro.

Jenny is a 14 year old student from Bozeman, Montana. She enjoys anything with dogs in her free time and has been mushing for thirteen years. Her family operates Anduril Kennels. She has raced the West Yellowstone Classic, Green River Classic, Ashton Dog Derby, Flathead Sled Dog Days and Casper’s Canines for Charity race. In the lead will be Khufu, Otter, Clewy, Annie, Cessena and Super Cub. She is sponsored by Dr. Sid Erickson, D.V.M., Dr. Sue Geske, D.V.M., and Double Diamond Veterinary Hospital.

Justin is 15 year old student from Gladwin, Michigan. He assists with the family kennel, Red Barn Kennel. His father will be running the 350 mile race this year and he will be running the first Junior Race to the Sky. Justin runs Alaskan huskies.

Eimanne is a 16 year old high school student from Edmonds, Washington. She will be running dogs from Rick’s Racing Rovers (Rick Larson) and has been mushing for two years. Her hobbies are video production and running dogs. She is running the Junior Race to the Sky to raise money for the Red Cross and their relief efforts in Haiti. She is sponsored by Rick Larson, Laura Daugereau, and her parents.
