Race to the Sky Sled Dog Art Print - 2010

25 years of framed Race Art display scheduled in capital rotundra 12 February. The race vet check takes place same day on grounds in front of capital and is sure to draw large crowd. Inside, each artist is invited to accompany their art and to display any other art as ample space is provided.

This is a one day event highlighting all race artists over the 25 year history of this Montana Tradition. Produced in addition to the 2010 race art poster is another commemorative poster that depicts all art from 1986 thru 2010.

You must see this quality poster to appreciate the details showing your race art contribution captured for history. Inside the capital rotundra, each artist will be provided table and chair and is encouraged to display any other art of their choice. Display is not limited to dog sled subject art.

This is a promotion of our 2010 Anniversary Race to the Sky and also an opportunity for race artists to display their own art. One small way to again say thanks to artists who have contributed art in years past.

Race to the Sky – Long Distance Sled Dog Racing
A Montana Tradition
February 12-17,2010

As the musher rounded the slight corner in the glow of the full moon, all he could hear was the sound of the runners on crisp snow, and the breathing of his sled dog team.  It had been a very long  journey to get to that instant in time, but to the musher it was the culmination of years of hard work, little sleep, and dedication to his dream and his dogs.

These world class dog athletes had been bred from winning dogs – and diligently trained – some for several years – to do what they love to do – and that is to run – run like the wind.  To these dogs – their trust in their team leader – the musher was complete – if he said they could climb Huckleberry Pass – they would give all of their heart to doing exactly that.

These sled dog experiences and moments of when man and dog are one, only happen when a group of dedicated people – each a cog in the wheel, put forth their efforts and together they create the Best Long Distance Sled Dog Race in the Lower 48 – Race to the Sky – A Montana Tradition.

Race to the Sky is celebrating 25 years of sled dog racing this coming year in 2010.  Organizers are working at a feverish pitch to produce the largest purse, increase public participation, and field the biggest group of mushers and dogs that the race has ever seen.

For the first time ever in the history of the race – Race to Sky will feature a Junior Race to the Sky Sled Dog Race to support  the young stars in the sled dog sport and assist them in fulfilling their dreams.

To make this happen – they need your support – both financial as well as your volunteer time.  If you own a Montana Business – now is the time to get behind this timeless Montana tradition of sled dogs.

From the time that Native Americans hitched up their dog to help pull the travois laden with supplies – to when the only way mail and supplies could be delivered during the winter months in Montana was by sled dogs (can you even imagine the joy of reading a newly arrived letter in the dead of winter?) – to the establishment of the WW2 sled dog training facility at Camp Remini – to the both recreational and racing sled dog organizations of today – Sled Dogs have been there every step of the way – they are a part of Montana’s Tradition.
